    Broadwater fields, 1930s

In the 1920s, as he was retiring from his business career, my great-grandfather bought a farm in Chester County, Pennsylvania, which my great-grandmother named Broadwater. Over the years, he acquired a dozen neighboring farms, where he bred and raised prize Arabian and Percheron horses, Guernsey cattle, and other livestock. He also founded a creamery, anticipating the organic, farm-to-table movement by decades and employing local people during difficult economic times. Broadwater Tack & Blanket pays tribute to his equestrian interests and vision.

The business began in 2015, selling a few items to friends.  Today, Broadwater has customers in every state in the continental U.S.  The mission is still the same: to provide quality tack at affordable prices.  Most of what we sell is gently used, so we essentially recycle goods for the benefit of the horse, rider, and planet. We specialize in blankets, with a wide range of sizes, brands, weights, and styles usually in stock.  As riders and horse owners for many years, we are happy to advise on fit, features, and suitability. Let us know if you have a wish list, and we’ll do our best to fill your needs.
